SYNESTHESIA COMMUNITY VJS, CREATIVE CODERS, AND MUSICIANS HARNESSING THE POWER OF PIXEL SHADERS. Shader artists wield GLSL to create complex generative scenes, shared with the community. Each scene has a unique aesthetic, control panel, and reaction to music. Synesthesia is an audio visualization software developed by musicians and visual coders out of Austin, TX. Our goal is to help you combine live audio and live controlled.
Creating Synesthesia Scenes
Synesthesia is primarily a tool to run and perform with scenes, which are essentially GLSL fragment shaders that create visuals with code. If you're looking to create your own scenes, you can start with the documentation for the Synesthesia Shader Format (SSF).

- Synesthesia is built to be run with a live audio stream, so while you are testing performance or while you're using it live, you'll want to make sure it is receiving an audio stream of some kind. In general, you don't have to worry about setting the audio levels very carefully for Synesthesia to work.
